My name is Tyara, I’m a 23-year-old neuroscience graduate from the Netherlands, and I have a lot of opinions.
When I was a little girl I dreamt of being a doctor, working on field assignments for Doctors Without Borders, trying to make the world a better place for people who did not have the same privileges I had. But life had other plans and instead I ended up doing my undergraduate degree at Leiden University in psychology, and my master’s in neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. I am currently looking for a PhD position and have noticed that — even though I won’t be a doctor working for Doctors Without Borders — my current path is still leading me to work on making access to healthcare more equitable and available around the world …or at least that’s the plan.
